Food Business Consulting is a powerhouse of entrepreneurial minded individuals who have not met a challenge they cannot overcome. Beginning with our founder Steffen Weck, all the way down to our newest recruit, our team is hungry for new and groundbreaking projects and the future of food development.
Exactly what is Food Business Consulting? In many ways, our name says it all;
- Food– The nutritional substances that people eat or drink to maintain life and growth.
- Food Business Consulting provides services to companies who are in the food industry with culinary ideation and commercialization.
- Business– Defined as an organization or enterprising entity engaged in commercial, industrial, or professional activities.
- Food Business Consulting has the capability to assist in all aspects of Food Business, from Innovative Product Development to Manufacturing and everything in between.
- Consulting– The business of giving expert advice to other professionals, typically in financial and business matters.
- Food Business Consulting provides expert advice in all things related to Food Product Development, Food Production as well as other food business aspects such as regulatory, compliance, marketing, sales, and distribution.
Simply put, we are a team of highly motivated educated individuals who are eager to take your food products and business to the next level. We can help your company develop a new product, or we can assist you with upscaling or revamping a current product.
Where it all began
Founded in 1997 in the City of Fountains, Kansas City, Food Business Consulting was established to quench the thirst of innovation for Steffen Weck. Working on many different research and development teams, Steffen realized that there had to be a more efficient way to bring a new product to the market. There was no reason for it to take 18 months or more to deliver one or two products – especially if those products were just a variation of something already available on the market. Spending this much time on one project seemed like a huge waste of human capital. Too often companies didn’t perform enough upfront research and due diligence to determine if it was even feasible to produce the new food product through their own production line. Oftentimes this would mean companies would have an entire R&D team start developing a product without really knowing if production was possible. After months of development just to get to the production line, complications would arise and the project would be dropped. Months of work would be wasted as well as the time of everyone involved.
Steffen realized that the way things were being done were outdated. He realized he could rely on his own expertise to launch and expand many new products in a much shorter amount of time than what was possible in the majority of existing food product companies. With this thought process in mind, Food Business Consulting was born. No more working on one project just for it to get dropped during the pre-production phase. No more wasting precious human capital, and no more ridiculous timelines. In fact, Steffen believed that if you had the right people, the right resources, and the right circumstances combined with proper research, there was nothing that could not be accomplished. Since its inception Food Business Consulting has been constantly evolving to meet the needs of its customers. Year by year, project after project, our team has expanded our skill set and capabilities. We now have the capability to help our customers with the majority of their product and business development needs.
FBC Finds a Home
After years of taking on more and larger projects the FBC team finally outgrew their Kansas City facility, and decided to make the move to Denver, Colorado. Denver was a natural fit as Steffen had family and friends in Colorado. Colorado also is a very forward thinking state providing many opportunities for entrepreneurs. Denver also happens to be close to Boulder, a natural food mecca. With Steffen’s close ties to the natural food industry, the relocation made even more sense. The Denver area then became the perfect place to call home and offer a fresh start.
What does FBC offer?
Now that Food Business Consulting has made a home in Colorado, we have been enhancing our capabilities to new levels and offering more services and expertise to our customers.
